A Scorpio Full Moon, Kaironic Time, & the Fullness of Spring

The Full Moon occurs at 22° 12' Scorpio on Monday, May 12th at 9:55am PDT/12:55pm EDT.

Soft rain patters upon the parched earth, its moisture finally soaking through weeks of dryness. Carrying the promise of lush, green vibrancy and a rich, verdant landscape, I hardly mind that I won’t see the Full Moon this evening, for I can already feel her potent presence amidst the endless grey clouds that stretch across the sky and the comforting drizzle they offer the land below.

Taurus Season contains within it, at least for those of us in the Northern hemisphere, a reminder of what life is like when the flourishing earth abounds with every color of the rainbow, forming a backdrop that seems to sing of life’s bounty and abundance. It reminds us of how nourished we are in every facet of our being when the Sun has returned, bringing its warmth to our own skin and bodies, lighting up our lives in ways that we may have forgotten for months on end until its eventual return. No longer in need of the hearth fire, we can move these outside in a more celebratory fashion, one that allows us to commune with the moon and stars, the fresh air that has stopped its bite, the trees that have come into bloom, and the growing grass beneath our feet.

The planet Uranus moved into the sign of the Bull in 2018, where it has stayed until now. But its time here is short-lived, as from early July until early November of this year, it ingresses into Gemini, and will return here at the end of April 2026, remaining in the airy sign of the Twins until August 2032. Uranus always beckons us — by way of shaking things up, jolting us to life, and bringing undeniable change to our doorsteps — to claim what is most authentic to us, especially if we’ve not been able to embody this in our lives in a real or meaningful way. This planet asks us to integrate and live what is most in alignment with our highest truth, especially if this is something we tucked away for safe-keeping until this change-making planet heralds its arrival in an important part of our charts. Uranus always, always, asks us to do what is most genuine for us. And this genuineness isn’t what was right for us twenty, ten, or five years ago, nor is it what was right for us last year or even last month. It is not what others think or feel is right for us, be they our spouses, our children, our siblings, our parents, our coworkers, or our society. It wants us to live what is most authentic to who we’ve undeniably become in this moment, regardless of what anyone else has to think or say about it, changing our lives in very concrete ways if we must, in order to achieve this end.

In Taurus, Uranus has shaken us to our embodied core, beckoning us to know all that truly brings us the ability to feel well-resourced in ourselves and our lives, what a deep sense of safety and security feel like in our bodies, as well as how to listen to and respect their needs by offering them tools and practices that calm the nervous system and ground us fully here in our tissue and muscles, bones and blood. Uranus in Taurus has also encouraged us to know what it means to actually be comfortable in our own skin, adopting healthy habits that allow for this on an ongoing basis, as well as how to honor Mother Earth and nature in our own unique ways, deepening our relationship with our first and always mother who nurtures and supports us boundlessly.

This Full Moon in Scorpio opposes Uranus in Taurus, meaning we have an opportunity to integrate the facets of ourselves that are ready to be lived out loud, for they are no longer okay with being in the shadows. More on that soon enough. Uranus is strongly associated with Kairos, which can be translated as, “the propitious or opportune moment,” “timeliness,” or “the right time,” likened to a lightning bolt that strikes down upon the earth, carrying with it an electric charge that illuminates our reality in ways we least expected, reminding us that heaven does indeed, have influence within our realm of perceived worldliness, and that when a course (our own or another’s) needs to be shifted, changed, recognized, or understood, there are forces alive that can and will certainly make it so. The kind of epiphany within the realm of Uranus is that which seems to leave us blind-sided, surprised, and perhaps even shocked, but that also carries the massively important function of remembering who we truly are, why we’re here, and how to embody our human mission more clearly and of course, authentically. Now, free will is real, and we can always choose to remain “in the dark,” so to speak, especially with Scorpio in the mix. With Uranus, this looks like utter dissociation, a state in which we quietly fade into the background, detaching almost completely from ourselves and our realities, while our bodies continue carrying on the things we’ve always done but that no longer really work or hold meaning for us. This is certainly a choice we can make when Uranus is present, but I obviously wouldn’t advise it.

Now, back to Kairos for a moment. In the words of Matthew David Segall, “Kaironic time is full of potential, such that it beckons us to participate in special moments more pregnant than others. Kairos reveals to us that there are certain times when the order of things, the cosmos, the world-soul, is attempting to persuade we human souls to participate in the unfolding of events in a particular way, times when a certain mood descends as though from heaven to characterize earthly events…Kairos is the time of the Soul.” (This quote can be found here: https://footnotes2plato.com/2015/05/15/minding-time-chronos-kairos-and-aion-in-an-archetypal-cosmos/)

This Full Moon is absolutely an opportunity to open to Kairos and its sense of time, making ourselves available to the bigger reality that contains magic and mystery, so that we might align even more clearly with its and our own power. This is echoed by Saturn, Ceres, and the North Node’s sextile to the Lord of Kaironic Time, encouraging us to “space in” to the possibilities that are available to us when we create healthy boundaries and nourish ourselves and our lived realities with experiences that invite this type of expansive awareness so that we may embody them readily here and now.

The Scorpionic frequency of the zodiac always contains the sludge that must be sifted through, its intensely rich contents encouraging our abilities to go deeply into our psycho-spiritual and psycho-emotional realms in order to uncover all that’s been hiding there, be it for this life, lifetimes, or generations, usually all of the above. The Scorpion cannot not see or feel what is there, and this quality must be turned into a super power in order for it to transform all that has it playing the role of the victim or all that is traumatizing into empowerment, for this zodiac sign is here to alchemize proverbial lead into gold, leaving no “stone unturned” within itself or its psyche, uncovering anything and everything that keeps it from living as its most empowered self. And with Uranus opposing this Full Moon, we are certainly being asked to go to the depths of our own experiences in order to do this work, but also to be present for the Kaironic forces that may show up to help shift or expand, shake up or shake out, or perhaps just jolt us into a space where we feel much more aligned, alive, and authentically ourselves. What is required here is the desire to embody our most optimal selves, the beings we came to this planet to be, no matter how intense what we face might seem. If we can choose this embodied presence in the present, a new reality emerges for ourselves and the world we are a part of, and we reclaim what may have been left in the shadows long ago, now ready to be fully embodied.

May this Full Moon bring you just the right doses of authenticity, empowerment, and alchemy. May you align with Kaironic time in just the ways you are meant to, and may you bask in the blessings of this beautiful time of year.
